Introduction To Fall Sports
We interviewed a student-athlete from each fall sport asking them questions about how the start of their season is going.
- What are you looking forward to this season?
- What’s one goal you have for your team this season?

- Who’s your inspiration for this sport?
Dawson Klein –
- I am looking forward to seeing how the team grows and improves throughout the season.
- A goal for the team this season is to qualify for state.
- I’m looking forward to playing Basehor because we haven’t played them since I’ve been on the team.
- My biggest inspiration for this sport is Kylian Mbappe because of his commitment to the sport and drive to always improve.
Clayce Dow –
- I’m looking forward to watching the team grow and get better
- My goal for our team is to improve what we can and be the best team we can be
- I am looking forward to running our home course because I like the technicality of it
- My inspiration is Mykael White because he faced adversity and was still successful.
Addison Hassett –
- I’m looking forward to watching us get better through the season and watching us grow and work together.
- My goal for us this year is to take it one game at a time and be better every time we leave the gym.
- I’m looking forward to playing Piper because it should be a good game.
- My inspiration is Mariyah Noel because she is always putting her all out there and it’s very inspirational.
Khaliek Rainey-
- Getting out there and playing with the guys and making a change for the school and team.
- Making a deep playoff run and showing the improvement we’ve made as a team.
- Schlagle. It’s my previous school and I’m looking forward to making a big statement in a place I’ve come from. Shushing all the doubts around there.
- There are a lot of guys I look up to like NFL players and things like that but what really brought me close to this sport is my pops he introduced me to the sport and I’ve loved it ever since.
Abby Schram –
- I am looking forward to playing in actual girl tournaments this year since last year I could only play in the boy’s tournaments.
- One goal I have is for everyone to enjoy the season and beat their personal records.
- Golf is more of an individual sport so we don’t really play a team but you compete against different schools so I would say I am most excited to compete against Basehor.
- My inspiration for the sport would have to be my brother Caleb because he is just naturally good at golf and I want to be as good as him.
Autumn Ashford –
- What are you looking forward to this season?- I am looking forward to playing a lot of tournaments this season.
- What’s one goal you have for your team this season?- One goal I have this season is making it to state again.
- What team are you looking forward to playing and why?- I’m looking forward to playing St. James this season because I think they will be a good tough opponent.
- Whos your inspiration for this sport?- My inspiration for tennis is Katie, my doubles partner that moved because when we played together we pushed each other and worked really well together.

Landen Hill, Sports Writer
Landen is a senior, this is his second year on the Pow Wow staff. He is very involved in sports and extracurricular activities including Orange Crush Chieftain, he is a swimmer, and he plays tennis.
Mariyah Noel, Sports Writer
Mariyah Noel is a senior, division 1 basketball commit at Bonner Springs High School. Mariyah is a very involved student at Bonner Springs, participating in three sports including basketball, volleyball, and track. She also is apart of two clubs, Diversity and Step team. Mariyah plans to continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Mississippi (go rebels!) and majoring in New Media.
